1 mm directed by Mr. Secretary Bonar Law to inform you that subject to your being passed by the medical adviser of this Department as physically fit for service, he proposes to select you for appointment as a Sister in the Medical Department of the Federated Malay States with salary at the rate of £250 a year rising, by annual increments of £10 to £350 a year with free furnished quarters, servants and free washing of uniforms will be provided and you will receive an allowance of £96 a year for uniform and a firewood allowance.
You will also receive an allowance of £210 a year, but this allowance is not pensionable. In the event of your ultimately being entitled to a pension, your service will be counted.
Your tour will not be granted a free passage to England on proceeding on leave.
2. For purposes of local payment, your salary and duty allowance will be converted into dollars at the Government rate of exchange which at present is 2/4d. to the dollar.
3. You must be prepared to serve in any part of the Malay Peninsula. Your duties will be to nurse the sick in hospital under the instructions of a Medical Officer; to attend, if required, to private...
